Agyapong, the young Ghanaian whose story spread widely after he redirected his boss’ business capital to fund a journey to Canada, has finally addressed the issue. A recording captured at the airport before he boarded his flight shows him appealing to his employer and others whose money he channelled into his travel plans.
In the video, he admitted that the decision was intentional. He explained that he deliberately used the funds placed in his care because he believed that requesting support openly would not have produced any assistance. For him, leaving the country felt like the only path to a better future, and he acted on that conviction.
Although his behaviour has been criticised by many, Agyapong stated that he plans to repay every amount once he stabilises abroad. His remarks have intensified public discussions, with some describing his actions as deceptive while others view his desperation as a reflection of the economic challenges that continue to push many young Ghanaians to leave the country at any cost.
