Vivies Dance and Theatre Academy recently marked a major milestone – 10 years of transforming lives through the power of dance and theatre. Speaking at their 10year anniversary celebration on February 21, the team reflected on the incredible journey so far.
Over the past decade, thousands of children have passed through their doors, experiencing life-changing transformations along the way.
From shy and timid kids to confident performers, Mrs. Vivian Boateng, also known as Vivie, has seen it all. The academy’s founder shared that acting, dancing, and singing aren’t just activities – they’re tools for personal development and transformation. Many graduates have gone on to university, carrying the skills and qualities they picked up at Vivies into their lives and careers. “For us, these transformations are a testament to the impact of the arts,” she said.
Despite their successes, Vivie has faced challenges, particularly funding and space. “We’ve hardly gotten sponsorship, maybe because people still don’t understand what this is about and why we need it,” the founder noted. With undeniable transformations to prove the arts’ power, they’re calling for support to reach more children.
One major goal is the 10K Legacy Project: training 10,000 children in the next 10 years. “Imagine a Ghanaian child with confidence, discipline, and perseverance… they’ll do amazingly well in any industry,” the founder said. But they need a national performance center for children and young people to make this vision a reality.
Vivie is calling on partners, companies, and individuals who believe in the next generation to come on board. “Invest not just for profit, but for the generation ahead,” the founder appealed. With their experience and passion, they’re ready to take the arts to more kids and change more lives.
The academy’s story is a testament to the power of the arts in shaping individuals and communities. As they step into their next decade, Vivie is looking to make an even bigger impact – with support from those who share their vision.
