London’s White City is under emergency lockdown following a massive fire that broke out in a nine-storey mixed-use building on Wood Lane. The London Fire Brigade was alerted at 03:08 BST and quickly mobilized crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Kensington, Chiswick, and surrounding stations.
As of Saturday morning, approximately 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines are on scene, with two 32-metre turntable ladders deployed to tackle the flames from above. The fire has severely impacted the upper floors of the building, which includes residential units and commercial spaces—reportedly part of the former BBC Television Centre complex.
Evacuations are underway, coordinated by the Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police. A rest centre has been established to shelter displaced residents, while Wood Lane remains closed to traffic.
