A total of 118 former parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have officially declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the January 31, 2026, primaries.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference led by Andrew Egyapa Mercer, former Member of Parliament for Sekondi and former Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture.

“Dr. Bawumia’s track record in public service, economic management, and digital transformation underscores his suitability to guide the party and the country forward,” he stated.
He added that the endorsement spans all regions and constituencies, reflecting a broad-based consensus within the party’s grassroots and leadership structures.
