Rev John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee
The Member of Parliament for Assin South, John Ntim Fordjour, has dismissed claims that 15,000 supporters in the constituency have defected from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the assertion as “palpably false.”
His response follows circulation of images on social media purporting to show a mass defection in the area.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who also serves as the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, questioned the credibility of the claim, pointing to the mismatch between the figures being touted and the visual evidence presented.

He suggested that the numbers had been exaggerated for political effect.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please meet the ‘15,000 new NDC members in Assin South’.
This picture certainly doesn’t match the claim, but they insist they’re ‘15,000 in the spirit’,” he wrote in a social media post on Wednesday, March 18.
Despite dismissing the figures, the Assin South MP emphasised the importance of every party member, stressing that even a single defection would be taken seriously.
Drawing on biblical teachings, he underscored his commitment to engaging with any individuals who may have left the party.
“On a more serious note, just as Jesus Christ taught us in Luke 15 and Matthew 18, every individual who defects is important. Even if only one person defects from NPP, my team and I will pursue with all humility, constant engagement and perseverance to get the patriot back to our fold. Every vote counts!” he stated.
