Police in the Bono Region have arrested a teenager believed to be behind the theft of three tricycles worth a combined GH₵74,000.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Fuseini Ibrahim, was taken into custody on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Dumasua in the Sunyani West Municipality. His arrest came after officers intercepted him and a group of accomplices at a checkpoint while transporting the stolen vehicles.
According to police, the tricycles had been taken from Drobo in the Jaman South Municipality. Investigators say Ibrahim was not acting alone. Three others, named only as Musa, Baba, and Malik Mustapha, fled the scene when officers intervened, leaving Ibrahim behind to be apprehended.
The intercepted tricycles were all unregistered and have since been retrieved by authorities. Police have launched a manhunt to track down the three fugitives, who remain at large following the incident.
The Bono Regional Police Command confirmed the arrest in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, stressing that the search for the remaining suspects is still active.
The case highlights the growing concerns over the theft of tricycles in the region, which are not only high in value but also serve as a major means of livelihood for many operators.
