Two policemen stationed at Akyem Ofoase in the Eastern Region, Lance Corporal Isaac Anti and Constable Thomas Alornyo, have met their untimely death in a motor accident.
They died in the line of duty when returning to Ofoase from Akyem Ayirebi around 7 p.m. last Monday when their motorbike collided head on with a tricycle (aboboyaa).
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Ofoase/Ayirebi Constituency, who were led by the Member of Parliament (MP), for the area Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and the Constituency Chairman, Emmanuel Obeng, visited the Ofoase District Police Command last weekend to commiserate with the command, the Police Administration and the bereaved families.
Dedicated personnel
The party described the departed two policemen as dedicated men who served the Akyemansa District with commitment and professionalism.
The MP, Mr Oppong Nkrumah, mourned the two officers and commended them posthumously for their loyal service to the district and the nation at large.
He noted that their sacrifices would not be forgotten and urged the public to value the work of the security personnel who risked their lives to maintain peace and order.
The constituency chairman, Mr Obeng, stressed that the demise of the two police men had dealt a blow to the residents of the constituency.
Road safety
The NPP seized the opportunity to preach the importance of road safety, advising drivers and other road users to strictly observe traffic regulations to prevent avoidable accidents.
The District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kyei Sarpong, assured the party leadership of the command’s commitment to ensure that law and order prevailed in the constituency despite the tragic loss of the two policemen.
