A young Mexican influencer was fatally shot while livestreaming on TikTok in a shocking incident that has left her followers and the public stunned. Valeria Marquez, just 23 years old, was killed inside her beauty salon in Guadalajara, according to the prosecutor’s office in Jalisco state.

Authorities say an unidentified man entered the salon and opened fire on Marquez while she was live online. She was holding a stuffed toy and engaging with her audience during the broadcast when the attack occurred. The stream only ended after someone picked up her phone and turned it off, moments after the fatal gunshot.

The case is being treated as a femicide—a classification used in Mexico for killings believed to be motivated by the victim’s gender. The motive remains unclear, and officials have not released the name of any suspect.

Reports from local media suggest the assailant may have posed as someone delivering a gift before carrying out the attack. Emergency services responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. local time and confirmed Marquez had died from her injuries.
