3 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent clash

The Central Regional Director of Education, Dr Juliette Dufie Otami, has confirmed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent clash between students during the District Schools Athletics Games in Agona Swedru on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Speaking on the AM Show on JoyNews on Monday, February 23, 2026, she said, “About three people have been arrested as of yesterday. We are still investigating the matter.”

Dr Dufie Otami further disclosed that all students who sustained injuries during the incident have been discharged.

“They have been discharged and they are okay, they have all been treated, and they have all been brought back to the schools, and they are okay now”, she stated.

According to eyewitnesses, tensions heightened during the event, leading to a physical confrontation between the two groups.

In the course of the disturbance, a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School was allegedly attacked by several students believed to be from Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS).

The injured student was reportedly hit with sticks and pelted with stones before bystanders intervened to restore calm.
