The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled an extensive network of planned and emergency maintenance exercises across three regions for Thursday, May 7, 2026, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to scores of communities in the Ashanti, Central, and Western Regions.
According to advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will commence at 9:00 am across affected areas, with durations varying depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.
In the Ashanti Region, a major planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, affecting a sweeping list of communities including Edwenase, parts of Kwadaso, Nwamase, Apire, Ampatia, Bebu, Dako, Adumasa, Ampabame No.1 and 2, Mpatasie, Trede, Sabin Akrofrom, Takyiman, Denkyembouso, Ohuwmasi, Hill Top, parts of Asouyeboa, parts of Tanoso, Yabi, Merewadwa, Kokode, Aburaso, Kromoase, Akyeremade, Chichibon, Gyekye, Dida, Odeneho Kwadaso, OWASS, Agric Amanfrom, Santasi, Fankyenebra, Apemanim, Boko, Twedie, Foase, Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom, Nweneso, Manso Adubia, and surrounding areas.
A separate planned operation in the Ashanti Region will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, affecting Abore, Atuntuma, Kyenkyenase, Akuntam, and surrounding areas. Additionally, five emergency maintenance exercises have been scheduled across the region. The first will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, affecting Kona Mountain High, Asenemaso Nkwanta, Dumanafo, Mampongteng, Sarfo, Aboaso, Ankaase, and surrounding areas. A second emergency operation from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will impact Asokwa, Hwiremoase, Sikaman, Fumso, New Edubiase, Atobiase, Apagya, Ataasi, Adansi Praso, Assin Praso, Whidiem, Bodwesango, Fereso, Banka, Aboabo, and surrounding areas. A third emergency operation from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm will affect Bremen, parts of Kronum, Kronum Kwapra, Afrancho, Sasa, Buoho, and surrounding areas. A fourth emergency operation from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will impact Lowcost, Pepedan, Yeguaa, Broadway, BD, and surrounding areas.
In the Central Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Abrem, Agona, Efutu Mampon, Ankase, Braase, Breman Abreshia, Wassa, Ekutuase, Suhyen, Wassa Edwenase, Ayensudo, Ampenyi, Dwobo, Akwakrom Abeeye, Nasdaqwire, Dutch Komenda, Dompuase, Kissi, Sekyere Heman water, Komenda, Sefwi, Ebukrom, Anweem, Dumtu, Kafordzidzi Aburansa, Dominase Attabadze village, part of Attabadze town, and surrounding areas.
In the Western Region, an emergency maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, affecting Market Circle, Beaunaukyim, Nsuta, Low Cost, and surrounding areas.
In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities. The company reassured the public that the planned and emergency exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
