Michelle Obama Breaks Silence on Divorce Rumors

Michelle Obama has publicly addressed the swirling rumors regarding her marriage to former President Barack Obama, which intensified after she chose not to attend Jimmy Carter’s funeral and declined to participate in Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

During an appearance on Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast, Michelle refuted claims that her decisions were indicative of marital issues.

She explained that her choice to opt out of certain events was a personal one, asserting that it was not a sign of a troubled marriage.

“The interesting thing is that, when I say ‘no,’ for the most part people are like, ‘I get it, and I’m OK,’” Michelle shared.

“But when a woman makes a choice for herself, it becomes something negative,” she added, reflecting on society’s tendency to misinterpret personal decisions.

She also expressed frustration with how women, in particular, are often pressured to justify their actions, saying, “This couldn’t be a grown woman just making a set of decisions for herself, right?”

Michelle emphasized that her decisions were about her own well-being and weren’t meant to fit societal expectations.
