Ghanaian music star Kuami Eugene has finally opened up about past remarks made by rapper Guru, who once suggested his music career would collapse after parting ways with Lynx Entertainment.
Now a thriving independent artist, the “Monica” singer took the high road while reflecting on the history between the two. Speaking on Joy Entertainment with Doreen Avio, Eugene made it clear he holds no ill will toward Guru, especially given the rapper’s current position as the President of the University of Ghana’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC).
Rather than revisit their earlier differences, Kuami Eugene acknowledged the rapper’s transition into student leadership with respect, choosing not to dwell on their feud.
The backstory dates to a public fallout several years ago, when Guru criticized Kuami Eugene and others at Lynx Entertainment for allegedly shutting down collaboration opportunities. Guru had gone as far as to suggest Eugene wouldn’t succeed after leaving the label.
Yet, in contrast to that prediction, Kuami Eugene has built an even stronger solo presence, releasing multiple hit tracks and performing on major platforms since his Lynx exit. His career has flourished in the face of doubt.
Meanwhile, Guru, known offstage as Maradona Yeboah Adjei, has surprised many by taking on a different path—enrolling in the University of Ghana and eventually being elected as SRC President in 2024. The move drew attention and praise, marking a new chapter in his public journey.
While the tension between them may not have fully disappeared, Kuami Eugene’s comments suggest a willingness to move forward without animosity—earning him praise for choosing maturity over rivalry.
