Veteran gospel singer and evangelist Diana Asamoah has come out swinging against pastors who use religion as a cover to sell spiritual products, warning Ghanaians to be cautious of such deceitful practices.
Speaking during a live radio conversation, Asamoah took a firm stand, stating that many religious leaders in the country are no different from convicted spiritual scammer Nana Agradaa, who was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for defrauding members of her congregation.
Asamoah argued that while Agradaa may be behind bars, the real problem persists — with several self-proclaimed pastors continuing to exploit their followers by selling candles, oils, soaps, and other supposed spiritual items, all in the name of divine intervention.
According to her, these pastors are merely disguising business operations as ministries. She pointed out that despite appearing generous through public giveaways and charity events, these figures often collect large sums from poor worshippers under the pretext of selling miracles.
Asamoah advised both law enforcement and the public not to be fooled by surface-level acts of kindness, describing such tactics as calculated strategies to maintain control over desperate believers while profiting handsomely.
Reflecting on her own success in ministry and gospel music, she emphasized that her growth came purely through genuine faith and hard work — not by trading in spiritual merchandise.
Her remarks follow increasing scrutiny of church practices in Ghana, especially in the wake of Nana Agradaa’s high-profile conviction, which has reignited conversations about religious fraud and spiritual manipulation.
