Immigration Officer Found Burnt After Mysterious Debt Meeting—Family Demands Justice

The family of Ghana Immigration Service officer Stephen King Amoah is seeking justice after his lifeless, burnt body was discovered under shocking circumstances, days after he went missing.

Amoah, who vanished on Thursday, July 3, 2025, was found dead at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya, with his remains wrapped in a woollen carpet and bearing gruesome injuries, including a deep neck slash. His body had also been severely burned.

That evening, Amoah had informed his wife that he was heading out to meet an old friend who reportedly owed him GHS200,000. The meeting was set to take place at Ashongman Estates, and Amoah assured his wife he would return soon.

Not long after leaving, a message was sent from his phone claiming he had returned home safely and had received the full amount. The tone of the message, however, raised suspicion. Amoah’s wife, alarmed by its unusual wording, asked his brother to check their residence. But he was nowhere to be found.

Multiple attempts to reach Amoah afterward were unsuccessful, and by the following day, his phone was completely unreachable.

In a bizarre development, the same friend who had arranged the meeting told investigators he had indeed met Amoah and not only paid him the original GHS200,000 but also added another GHS300,000 for safekeeping. He then claimed that Amoah had left his house shortly after receiving the cash.

These statements only deepened suspicions. The friend, later identified as Bright Awey, allegedly used Amoah’s phone to send the deceptive message to his wife, possibly in a bid to buy time and cover his tracks.

The body was eventually discovered and identified by Amoah’s relatives. The manner in which he died—slashed, burned, and dumped—has left the public horrified and the family in anguish.

The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed that one individual, believed to be the same friend Amoah went to meet, has been arrested. Investigations are ongoing, but the circumstances point to a premeditated act involving a large sum of money and a betrayal that ended in tragedy.

Public calls for swift justice have intensified, with many demanding harsh punishment for the perpetrator. Some have urged the police to trace phone location data and digital footprints to strengthen the case, while others condemned the cruelty of the act, vowing never to lend money again due to the sheer wickedness displayed.

Amoah’s body is currently at the Police Hospital Mortuary. His family remains devastated, but determined to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
