The Jamaican dancehall legend is said to be considering the 40,000-seater Accra Sports Stadium for this anticipated event.
Ghanaian journalist Gary Al-Smith shared that initial steps have been taken toward securing the venue, which has hosted major acts like Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale in the past. If finalized, the show could easily become one of the most high-profile music spectacles to hit Ghana in 2025.
Kartel’s interest in performing in Ghana follows his renewed musical alliance with Ghana’s dancehall icon, Shatta Wale. Their recent collaborations and performances together have reignited connections between Jamaican and African dancehall movements.
Just months ago, in December 2024, Shatta Wale shared the spotlight with Kartel during his comeback performance in Jamaica—a massive concert held at the national stadium in Kingston, which drew thousands of fans and was hailed as a rebirth of global dancehall energy.
Following 13 years behind bars, Kartel regained his freedom after his conviction was overturned by Jamaica’s Court of Appeal. Rather than face a retrial, he was released and has since been focused on reconnecting with his fan base worldwide—starting with what could be a historic stop in Ghana.
