Former Beige Bank Boss Walks Free as Court Overturns Charges

The Court of Appeal has delivered a major ruling in favour of Mr. Michael Nyinaku, the former CEO of the now-defunct Beige Bank, clearing him of all charges in a long-running legal battle.

In a decision handed down on Thursday, a three-member panel acquitted and discharged Mr. Nyinaku, bringing an end to accusations that had lingered over his name. He had been facing serious charges, including stealing, fraudulent breach of trust, and money laundering—allegations that stemmed from the collapse of the financial institution he once led.

The appeals court, led by Justice Emmanuel Ankamah, ruled that the evidence presented did not support the charges. The other panel members, Justice Dr. Ernest Owusu Dapaah and Justice Kofi Akrowiah, concurred with the decision to clear Mr. Nyinaku of all wrongdoing.

This ruling marks a dramatic turn in a case that has drawn widespread public interest since the collapse of Beige Bank during Ghana’s banking sector cleanup. Mr. Nyinaku’s acquittal now places him outside the shadow of criminal liability as far as this case is concerned.
