Wendy Shay Opens Up on Orchestrating Shatta-Stonebwoy Peace

Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has finally opened up about her behind-the-scenes involvement in settling one of Ghana’s most heated music rivalries—between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

The feud reached boiling point during the 2019 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (now Telecel Ghana Music Awards), when a live altercation unfolded on stage. The situation escalated dramatically after Stonebwoy pulled a gun in response to Shatta Wale and his crew storming the stage, leading to chaos and public backlash.

While much of the credit for brokering peace between the two dancehall stars has gone to businessman Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban and media figure Nana Aba Anamoah, Wendy Shay has now revealed that she quietly played a vital role that has largely gone unnoticed.

Speaking in a recent interview, Wendy Shay disclosed that it was actually her who connected Dr. Amoa-Abban to Shatta Wale at a critical moment. According to her, Dr. Abban reached out to her, requesting Shatta Wale’s contact number so he could initiate peace talks. She complied, setting the reconciliation process in motion.

Her visit to Dr. Amoa-Abban’s residence had come shortly after she was crowned New Artiste of the Year in 2019. As a gesture of appreciation, she presented him with the award plaque since he had supported her debut “Shay Concert” as a sponsor.

Shortly after that meeting, contact was made with both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy—laying the foundation for the eventual truce that surprised the nation.

Wendy Shay’s quiet role in this high-profile resolution is now gaining renewed attention as fans re-evaluate the events that brought two rivals together after years of tension.
