Shocking New Details Emerge in Immigration Service Murder Case

Ghana’s Criminal Investigation Department has uncovered chilling new details in the death of Stephen King Amoah, a Ghana Immigration Service officer whose body was found burned and dumped near the GBC Satellite area in Accra on July 9, 2025.

The prime suspect in the case, Bright Aweh, is now formally charged with murder after police pieced together a trail of evidence linking him to the brutal crime. The case, which began as a missing person report, has since spiraled into a full-scale homicide investigation.

Authorities say Amoah was last seen alive on July 3 after leaving his home at Ashongman Estate. He had reportedly been lured out after receiving photos of a large amount of cash—GHC500,000—from Aweh, who allegedly promised to settle a longstanding debt that night. Amoah never returned home, and by the following day, his family reported him missing.

On July 6, police arrested Aweh, who admitted to meeting the officer and handing over the money. He claimed GHC200,000 was meant to clear debts while Amoah was to safeguard the rest. However, inconsistencies in his story and suspicions about the origin of the cash triggered deeper scrutiny.

The investigation reached a grim milestone on July 9, when a burned body was discovered in a gutter near Comet Estate. Relatives later confirmed the remains as Amoah’s, based on preliminary findings. DNA samples from his mother and son are being analyzed to complete the identification process.

A search of the suspect’s home unearthed a disturbing scene. Detectives found blood stains in the living room, along with signs of a rushed clean-up effort. Spray-painted walls, a used spray paint can, and a vehicle containing blood traces pointed to a possible attempt to conceal the crime.

Just 100 meters from Aweh’s residence, investigators stumbled upon a secondary crime scene. There, they recovered a scorched woollen carpet, a blood-soaked fufu pestle, and camouflage fabric stained with blood—all hidden in nearby bushes.

Initially detained for kidnapping, Aweh has since been re-arrested and charged with murder. He made his first court appearance at the Adabraka District Court and was remanded into custody, with a second hearing scheduled for August 8, 2025.
