The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed the confiscation of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from the home of Ghanaian dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, following a recent raid.
The operation, led by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit, was conducted after intelligence linked the high-end vehicle to illicit financial dealings by Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian currently serving over seven years in a U.S. prison for a string of financial crimes.
Authorities say the vehicle, identified by both the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice as proceeds of Amuah’s fraudulent activities, was located and seized at Shatta Wale’s property without resistance or incident. EOCO noted that their personnel acted with full professionalism during the operation.
Interestingly, officials disclosed that the musician appealed to them to keep the seizure under wraps, allegedly fearing that public knowledge of the incident could damage his public image and weaken the credibility of his brand, which heavily revolves around luxury and flamboyance.
While Shatta Wale is not currently facing charges, the seizure forms part of a broader effort by Ghanaian authorities to cooperate with international agencies in tracking assets tied to criminal activities abroad.
