A Nigerian mother has taken to social media to rally fellow parents for a nationwide protest against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), claiming her child failed English due to poor management of the 2025 examination process.
In a widely circulated video, the woman alleged that this year’s exams were plagued by serious logistical failures, including scheduling that saw some students writing exams well into the night. According to her, many candidates began their papers around noon and were still answering questions as late as 11 p.m.
She argued that such conditions are unacceptable for any student, let alone teenagers under pressure to perform in crucial subjects like Mathematics and English. The woman insisted that the results clearly reflect the impact of these issues, stating that most candidates she knows performed poorly, particularly in those two core subjects.
Frustrated by the outcome, she urged mothers across Nigeria to speak up and demand accountability from WAEC. She maintained that the examination body had failed the children by allowing disorganized exam schedules that stretched into midnight hours.
The video has since gained traction online, stirring a debate about whether WAEC’s logistics this year contributed to the high failure rate reported in key subjects.
As discontent grows, many are questioning the fairness of the process and whether reforms are urgently needed to protect students from similar experiences in future exam cycles.
