The volunteers played a critical role, carrying the bodies from the crash site to their community before they were later moved to Accra. But in the days that followed, many locals felt forgotten — their contributions unacknowledged as national attention shifted to funerals and official ceremonies.

Speaking on the matter, Dr. Amoakohene acknowledged the emotional toll of the past two weeks and confirmed that steps are already being taken to identify those who assisted. A database of youth volunteers is being compiled, and plans are underway to offer them both appreciation and job opportunities through coordination with the central government.

He also emphasized the importance of visiting the community personally, alongside the District Chief Executive, to ensure that promises are fulfilled and gratitude is shown directly.

For Sikaman-Brofoyedu, the wait for recognition may soon be over — and their quiet heroism in a moment of national grief may finally receive the spotlight it deserves.
