  • He acknowledged public frustration over delays but cited legal procedures and court schedules as key factors.
  • Investigations and prosecutions are ongoing.

Deputy Attorney-General Dr Srem Sai has responded to growing public concern over the pace of prosecutions under the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative, assuring that the government remains committed to holding individuals accountable through due legal process.

Speaking in an interview monitored on September 4, 2025, Dr Sai acknowledged that public expectations are high, especially in light of recent corruption allegations. He explained that while the demand for swift justice is understandable, legal procedures must be followed to ensure fair trials.

He cited the ongoing case involving Kwabena Adu Boahene as an example, noting that the prosecution had already completed a third of its presentation before the courts went on legal vacation. Proceedings are expected to resume in October.

Dr Sai emphasized that the ORAL initiative is not politically targeted and that suspects retain their constitutional rights until proven guilty. He clarified that prosecution does not equate to automatic conviction and that no law mandates imprisonment within a specific timeframe after charges are filed.

The ORAL initiative, launched by the current administration, aims to recover misappropriated public funds and prosecute individuals implicated in corruption-related offences. The Attorney-General’s office has reiterated its commitment to building strong cases that can withstand legal scrutiny.
