Ghana Card Registration for 6 to 14 years at Premium Centres at GH¢310 Begins
  • NIA has begun registering children aged 6–14 for the Ghana Card at Premium Centres.
  • Registration costs GH¢310 and requires proof of identity via passport, birth certificate, or Ghana Card.
  • Online booking opens for all Premium Centres on September 15.
  • District Office rollout will follow in the coming weeks.
  • Cards will be issued shortly after registration is completed.

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has officially launched Ghana Card registration for children aged six to fourteen, beginning with its Premium Centres nationwide. The initiative marks a major step toward universal coverage of Ghana’s national identity system, extending access to younger citizens for the first time.

Parents and guardians can now register their children at any Premium Centre for a fee of GH¢310 — the standard charge for services at these locations. The NIA clarified that this is not a new fee, but the approved rate for premium registration.

To complete the process, families must present one of three documents: a valid Ghanaian passport for the child, an original birth certificate, or the Ghana Card of a parent or guardian who can vouch for the child’s identity.

Starting Monday, September 15, the NIA’s online booking system will expand to cover all 11 Premium Centres, allowing families to schedule appointments in advance and avoid long queues. In the coming weeks, the registration exercise will be extended to District Offices across the country, making it easier for families outside major cities to participate.

Cards for children who complete the process will be issued shortly after registration, according to the Authority. Officials say the inclusion of children is part of a broader effort to build a comprehensive and inclusive National Identity Register that reflects the full population.
