A horrific domestic incident has rocked the Ga South Municipality after a 26-year-old seamstress, Mabel Asantewaa, was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend in the early hours of Wednesday, September 10. The attack occurred at Chinese Down near the Kasoa toll booth, reportedly triggered by a dispute over intimacy.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect — identified only as Sammy — became violent after Mabel declined his advances, citing menstruation. Around 4:30 a.m., he allegedly stabbed her multiple times in the neck before attempting to resuscitate her. When she succumbed to her injuries, Sammy reportedly ingested poison in a failed suicide attempt.

Neighbours were alerted when Sammy cried out for help. Residents broke into the room and found Mabel lying naked in a pool of blood, while Sammy was semi-conscious on the bed. The landlord quickly notified the Tuba Police, who arrived at the scene and placed Sammy under arrest.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Amanfrom Polyclinic under police guard as investigations continue.
