Fresh Threats Force 38 Displaced Women and Children Back to Camp in Savannah Region

Some 38 victims of the Gbinyiri conflict, predominantly women and children, have returned to the Sawla Camp in the Savannah Region after briefly resettling in Chenkyere, Bole District.

The displaced persons, initially reintegrated into local communities, fled again upon receiving reports of potential new attacks on Chenkyere and surrounding villages. One individual, who had been hiding in nearby bushes, recounted rushing to the camp after hearing about the imminent threat.

The returnees cited the reliability of their sources in Bole as the reason for their urgent departure. Many traveled with their children and belongings on a tricycle late at night.

This sudden displacement interrupts ongoing efforts by local authorities and humanitarian groups to reintegrate Gbinyiri conflict victims. While security personnel and traditional leaders continue peace-building initiatives, officials have not yet commented on the latest development.
