Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo has come to the defense of Eze Chuckwudi Jude Ihenetu, the King of the Igbo community in Ghana, following criticism related to a recent event at the Manhyia Palace.
In an interview on The Liz Media Show, Adjorlolo emphasized the Igbo King’s invaluable contributions to Ghana’s film industry. According to the veteran actor, the King has consistently supported actors, filmmakers, and producers, often using his own resources to help advance the industry.
Adjorlolo highlighted instances where the King allowed his residence and vehicles to be used for film productions, describing him as a generous and selfless supporter of the arts. “He has invested a lot in Ghanaian cinema, sponsoring films and providing resources that have helped many of us in the industry,” he explained.
The Igbo King recently became the center of public debate after reports claimed he was stopped from greeting the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III. Adjorlolo dismissed negative opinions, stressing that the King’s contributions outweigh public controversies.
Meanwhile, the Igbo King has denied that he was prevented from interacting with the Asantehene, asserting that reports of a snub were inaccurate.
