Tragedy struck in Kumasi early Wednesday morning when a gas explosion near the Sanbra Hotel at Adum left four people in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 5:50 a.m. on September 24, 2025, as a food vendor and her team prepared to start the day’s cooking.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a sudden, deafening blast that sent bystanders rushing to the scene.

They found the victims severely injured, prompting immediate medical intervention. All four individuals were quickly transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving urgent care.

Authorities from the Ghana National Fire Service have arrived on site and launched a formal investigation to determine what caused the explosion.
