A canoe carrying six passengers overturned on the Offin River near Achiase in the Atwima Mponua District of Ashanti Region. The mishap, which occurred around 8 a.m. on September 25, 2025, reportedly happened when the paddler, who lacked experience, lost control of the vessel.

Four of the passengers were rescued safely, but two adult men are still missing, prompting an ongoing search effort.

This is not the first tragedy in the area. A similar accident in 2021 along the same river stretch saw four people drown, with only three bodies recovered, leaving one unaccounted for.
