Sarkodie has hinted that his recently held Rapperholic Homecoming concert in Kumasi may not be a one-off show but the beginning of a new annual tradition.
Speaking in an interview after the historic event at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the rapper admitted that the love and overwhelming turnout from the Ashanti Region have left him with no choice but to make Rapperholic in Kumasi a permanent fixture.
According to him, the scale of support proved that the city has the energy, passion, and numbers to sustain such a festival. While he acknowledged the challenges that came with hosting the show outside Accra — including logistics, limited flights, and accommodation shortages — Sarkodie insisted that Kumasi presented a huge opportunity for growth in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
He explained that unlike Accra, where structures and vendors are readily available, organising in Kumasi required extra effort. However, he believes the results were worth it, describing the show as one of the hottest and most energetic concerts of his career.
Sarkodie added that the next edition would be even better, promising to address loopholes such as the seating issues caused by the rains. He revealed that fans and SarkNation in Kumasi would likely help decide the timing, with Easter being one of the suggested periods for future editions.
With his declaration that “it has to stay,” Rapperholic Kumasi could soon become one of Ghana’s biggest annual entertainment festivals, bringing both cultural pride and economic benefits to the region.
