Hon. Theophilus Dominic Vondee, Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, has publicly defended the recently dismissed assistant headmaster in charge of academics at KNUST Senior High School, Mr. Charles A. Aidoo. Speaking on ADOM TV’s Badwan show, the MP insisted that the official did not commit any wrongdoing.
According to the lawmaker, the alleged incident involved mutual consent between Mr. Aidoo and the student, and therefore did not warrant the severe disciplinary action taken by the Ghana Education Service (GES). He described the decision to remove the assistant headmaster as “too harsh and inappropriate,” arguing that the situation was misinterpreted in public discussions.
The GES announced the removal of Mr. Aidoo in a communique dated September 29, signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi. The statement indicated that management had been made aware of a viral video on social media showing the assistant headmaster in a compromising position with a female student. The service emphasized that the matter had drawn serious concern, prompting immediate administrative action.
The case has sparked intense debate nationwide, with differing opinions on whether the disciplinary measures were justified. The MP’s remarks have added a political dimension to the controversy, raising questions about accountability, consent, and the appropriate consequences for school officials in such cases.
