  • Ghana Returns to Single-Digit Inflation After Four Year
  • Ghana recorded single-digit consumer price inflation for the first time in four years.
  • Year-on-year inflation dropped to 9.4% in September 2025, down from 11.5% in August.
  • The decline was largely driven by falling food prices, which decreased from 14.8% to 11%.
  • Non-food inflation also eased, slipping from 8.7% to 8.2%.
  • The sustained decrease means inflation has already surpassed the government’s full-year target.
  • Analysts suggest this trend could support monetary policy stability, exchange rate resilience, and improved consumer confidence.
  • The last time Ghana had single-digit inflation was August 2021.

Ghana has achieved single-digit consumer price inflation for the first time in four years, marking a continuation of a nine-month trend of declining prices. The year-on-year inflation rate fell to 9.4% in September 2025, down from 11.5% recorded in August, according to the latest data from the Ghana Statistical Service.

The decline was largely attributed to easing food costs, which fell to 11% from 14.8% in the previous month. Inflation on non-food items also moderated, dropping to 8.2% from 8.7% over the same period.

This development indicates that inflation has already exceeded the government’s annual target, providing relief to households and businesses that have faced sustained price pressures over recent years.

Economic analysts highlight that the persistent decrease in inflation may support stability in monetary policy, strengthen the resilience of the exchange rate, and boost consumer confidence as the country moves into the final quarter of 2025.

The last occasion Ghana recorded single-digit inflation was in August 2021, making this the first occurrence in four years.
