Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has recounted a distressing experience with a fan who allegedly groped her as she made her way onto the stage during a live performance.
The singer explained that such incidents make her uneasy, particularly when moving through crowds to reach the stage at less-organized events. During one performance, a fan allegedly pressed her inappropriately, prompting Sista Afia to defend herself by striking the individual with her microphone. The fan reportedly sustained injuries that required hospital attention.
Despite the presence of security personnel at the event, the incident left Sista Afia feeling violated and forced her to take immediate action to protect herself. She highlighted that such situations often occur in shows where performers must navigate densely packed crowds without adequate organization or protection.
Reflecting on her career, Sista Afia noted the challenges she has faced in the music industry, acknowledging that recognition and favoritism are not guaranteed despite her efforts and contributions to the field.
