Dr Richard Winfred Anane, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye (popularly Abronye DC), of showing disrespect to former President John Agyekum Kufuor during a recent executive meeting.

Dr Anane, in an interview on Kasapa FM that has gained traction on social media, said he was disappointed by Abronye’s conduct, which he described as inappropriate for someone in a leadership position.

The meeting, held about a week ago with senior party officials, reportedly saw former President Kufuor caution against a “top-bottom approach” to party management. Kufuor reportedly emphasized that such a strategy could undermine unity and called for collaboration among regional chairpersons, noting that the national chairman had been less active for certain reasons.

According to Dr Anane, Abronye DC reacted negatively to Kufuor’s guidance, prompting an apology from the acting chairman and disapproval from several attendees. Dr Anane questioned Abronye’s position and experience within the party, suggesting his response was disrespectful and inappropriate given Kufuor’s stature and long-standing role in the NPP.

The former MP’s comments have sparked discussions within the party, highlighting ongoing tensions and the challenges of maintaining cohesion among regional leadership in the NPP.
