The family of Joana Yabani, a final-year Biological Science student at KNUST who was allegedly killed on campus, is urging authorities to expedite legal proceedings after months of repeated delays.
In a video circulated on November 5, 2025, her sisters appealed to the Attorney General, the Inspector General of Police, and the judiciary to ensure that the accused, Daniel Tuffuor, is held accountable. They expressed frustration that, despite their regular appearances in court, the case has seen multiple adjournments.
The video coincided with the date Joana would have turned 22, highlighting the deep sense of loss and urgency felt by her family. They stressed that timely justice is essential to honor her memory and prevent the case from being forgotten.
Investigations indicate that Joana and the suspect were in a relationship. Police reports suggest that Tuffuor allegedly killed her on campus on February 27, 2025, following a dispute, with security cameras capturing the incident. The case has faced multiple postponements, with the most recent scheduled hearing set for September 15, 2025.
The family’s call comes as they continue to seek closure and accountability for the tragic death of their loved one.
