Renowned music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredima, has addressed the ongoing dispute with highlife musician Ofori Amponsah regarding their early interactions with the late Daddy Lumba.

The controversy follows Ofori Amponsah’s interview on Hitz FM, where he denied that Fredima accompanied him to Lumba’s home to present his demo song “Odo Mmra Fie.” In response, Fredima clarified that he was present during the meeting with Daddy Lumba over three decades ago and emphasized that several witnesses can verify the encounter, including family members and fellow artists.

Fredima stressed that while he never claimed to be the person who initially introduced Ofori Amponsah to Daddy Lumba, he was the first to accompany him to present his demo, a pivotal step in the singer’s career. He highlighted that Ofori has publicly acknowledged Fredima’s role in producing his demo, even though he seems to have forgotten their joint visit to Lumba’s residence in 1993.

Recalling a long-standing prediction from a family member, Fredima suggested that it was perhaps inevitable that Ofori would later deny aspects of their early collaboration. Despite the tension, Fredima maintained that his comments were not made out of malice, expressing pride in his contribution to Ofori’s career launch and affirming that the early demo played a crucial role in giving the singer his first major break.

The response comes as Fredima seeks to set the record straight against Ofori Amponsah’s recent claim that he personally delivered his demo recordings to Daddy Lumba without any assistance.
