Ghanaian musician Wanlov the Kubolor has shared that the harsh living conditions he endured as a student at Adisadel College prepared him mentally for a period he once spent in a United States prison.
Speaking on Joy Prime TV, he reflected on his school days, describing the environment as extremely difficult. He said food served at the dining hall often lacked proper hygiene, and students sometimes encountered unpleasant objects in their meals. He recalled certain weekly dishes that many students feared because of the after-effects they experienced the following day.
According to him, those challenges at school built a level of toughness that made life in an American correctional facility seem far less intimidating. He explained that meals provided in the prison — including snacks and breakfast cereals — were a significant improvement compared to what he was used to back in boarding school.
Wanlov suggested that the survival skills he developed in Adisadel gave him enough resilience to adapt quickly during his time in prison, making the entire experience feel unexpectedly manageable.
