The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is mourning the death of its polling station chairman for Ninkyiso after a fatal motorbike accident on Friday, November 14, during a campaign event for flagbearer hopeful Bryan Acheampong.

Yahya, the chairman, was riding alongside Vilinke Mohammed, the constituency’s Nasara coordinator, when a speeding motorbike collided with theirs. Both were rushed to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, but Yahya succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, November 16. Vilinke remains in critical condition with a life-threatening head injury.

A third individual, Kwaku Mensah, who was en route to a funeral in Assin Adiembra from Manso, also sustained severe injuries and is receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The accident has cast a shadow over the campaign activities, as preparations for Bryan Acheampong’s visit to meet delegates were disrupted. Party officials and local supporters are grappling with the sudden loss while hoping for the recovery of those still hospitalised.

Authorities and party members are urging caution on the roads, noting the tragedy underscores the dangers of speeding and traffic collisions during campaign activities.
