Ghanaian musician Patapaa Amisty, known for his viral track “One Corner,” has shared his view on why Nigerian music seems to have pulled ahead of Ghanaian productions.

During an appearance on a local cooking show, Patapaa suggested that his own country’s musicians and fans misunderstood the style and rhythm behind his hit, which limited Ghana’s influence in the music scene.

According to Patapaa, Nigerian artists capitalized on the rhythm from his song to create new tracks, giving them a competitive advantage, while Ghanaians failed to recognize the potential of the beat. He emphasized that if Ghana had embraced the rhythm fully, the nation could have established itself as a leader in hiplife and contemporary music.

Patapaa also observed that Nigerian artists have managed to adapt highlife elements into modern hits, effectively using patterns similar to those in “One Corner.” This, he believes, has allowed Nigeria to gain international recognition, whereas Ghana missed the opportunity to assert its musical dominance.
