Victor Biney, widely known as Abeiku, a self-proclaimed spiritualist and suspected armed robber, has been apprehended by the Juaboso District Police Command for his alleged involvement in a violent attack on miners at Sehwi Antobia in the Western North Region.
Reports indicate that Biney, along with a group of accomplices, allegedly targeted a mining site in what police describe as an attempted robbery. Law enforcement acted quickly after receiving intelligence about the plot, successfully capturing Biney, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation.
A subsequent search of the suspect uncovered an array of items including talismans, a firearm, AAA cartridges, knives, torchlights, and other objects thought to be connected to criminal activity.
Authorities have linked Biney to multiple robbery cases in the Juaboso area. In addition, he is already facing trial at the Bibiani Circuit Court for an unrelated case, with judgment expected on December 9, 2025.
Community members claim that Biney has been recruiting young men into his syndicate, allegedly promising them “black powers” to protect them against firearms and cutlasses during criminal acts. Police further suspect that he and his network orchestrated a widely reported daylight robbery in Juaboso, which left one person dead and involved the theft of significant sums of money from a wholesale shop.
The arrest underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks in the Western North Region and curb violent armed robberies.
