The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reportedly called in private lawyer Martin Kpebu and Accra-based TV3 for questioning. The move follows comments Kpebu made suggesting the OSP may have allowed former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to leave Ghana amid an investigation into financial irregularities.

Kpebu, known for his public commentary, had alleged that officials at the OSP undermined the institution’s mandate, enabling Ofori-Atta to evade accountability. His remarks were made during a recent TV3 appearance, where he criticized the timing and effectiveness of the OSP’s public updates on the SML contract case.

According to reports, the lawyer argued that the OSP’s press conferences were insufficient and belated, and that the public’s trust in the institution has suffered due to perceived inaction. The summons coincides with growing scrutiny of the OSP’s handling of high-profile cases and ongoing debates over transparency and accountability.

Details regarding the specific allegations behind the summons, or the date Kpebu and TV3 are expected to appear, have not been disclosed.
