Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has described the past ten months away from active politics as a period of personal growth and meaningful reflection.
During an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express on November 18, 2025, he explained that stepping back from the pressures of frontline politics allowed him to slow down, rest, and gain a renewed sense of purpose.
The former MP has spent the time reading, travelling, and reconnecting with communities across the country through what he referred to as a listening tour. This journey, he noted, helped him engage with citizens, reflect on his roots, and solidify his perspective on the future.
Dr Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the break offered him both rest and introspection, giving him clarity on his path ahead. He highlighted that despite his years in politics, the stillness and insight gained during this period have been unmatched.
Overall, he described the past ten months as one of the most rewarding phases of his life, offering a rare chance to step back, recharge, and gain a deeper understanding of his purpose beyond political duties.
