In a dramatic turn at the 2025 Official Strongman Games World Championship, Britain’s Andrea Thompson has been declared the World’s Strongest Woman after initially finishing in second place.
The decision follows the disqualification of American competitor Jammie Booker, who had originally edged out Thompson to claim the top spot. Organisers announced that Booker was removed from the Women’s Open category after discovering she is “biologically male,” though no public evidence has been provided and Booker has not yet commented on the ruling.
As a result, Australia’s Allira-Joy Cowley has moved up from third to second place in the women’s competition.
Event officials stressed that the championship enforces strict eligibility rules, allowing competitors to participate only in categories corresponding to the biological sex recorded at birth. The disqualification has reignited discussions worldwide about the participation of transgender athletes in sports, highlighting the tensions between inclusivity and competitive fairness.
