The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is back in Ghana after wrapping up a two-week international tour that took him to Barbados and Suriname.
His arrival at the Prempeh International Airport on November 27, 2025, drew a welcome team made up of traditional leaders led by Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, together with officials of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council headed by Chief Director Michael Owusu Amoako.
Barbados Leg
Otumfuo departed Ghana on November 11, 2025, with a delegation that included Juabenhene Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Bompatahene Nana Effah-Apenteng, Oyokohene Nana Agyekum Kusi II, Baffour Osei Kwame Kantankrakyi, Otumfuo Kyeame, and Asamponghene Oheneba Owusu Korkor.
During the three-day stay in Barbados, he held meetings with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, launched the Royal Diplomatic Golf Invitational with an opening tee-off at the Apes Hill Club, and visited the University of the West Indies’ Cave Hill Campus.
The trip also featured his participation in the 16th GUBA Awards and Dinner, hosted by Akosua Dentaa Amoateng and her partners. The Asantehene left the island nation on November 13, 2025.
Suriname Leg
His next stop was Suriname, where he joined the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations beginning November 24, 2025. His itinerary included attending a special sitting of the National Assembly, observing a military parade, and taking part in several commemorative activities.
Otumfuo was also present at a reception held by President Geerlings-Simons and her spouse, Mr. Glenn E. Geerlings, at the Presidential Palace.
The visit featured courtesy calls on the President, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Ir. Michael A. S. Adhin, the Vice Speaker, Ronnie Brunswijk, and two other members of the national legislature.
