Ghana’s Ambassador to Hungary, Dr Kwame Ampofo, officially assumed his duties after presenting his Letters of Credence to President Tamás Sulyok at the Sándor Palace in Budapest on December 15, 2025.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Ampofo conveyed greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana. President Sulyok welcomed the establishment of Ghana’s resident mission.

The new ambassador described the occasion as a step that would strengthen friendship, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation between the two nations.

In a private audience following the presentation, the leaders discussed areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, education, energy, trade, and water treatment.

Meet Ghana’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic

Particular focus was placed on poultry development, academic exchanges through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, and renewable energy collaboration. Both sides also explored the possibility of a high-level presidential visit from Ghana to Hungary to consolidate growing ties.

As a gesture of respect, Ambassador Ampofo laid a wreath at Budapest’s Heroes’ Square, honoring Hungary’s national heroes.

He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting the country’s interests, while President Sulyok expressed confidence in the ambassador’s ability to advance the partnership.

The ambassador was accompanied by his spouse, Joyce Oforiwaa Ampofo; Minister Plenipotentiary Kwasi Asante; and Honorary Consul Dr Peter Entz Boldizsár.
