Ghanaian gospel musician Evangelist Sonnie Badu has openly declared his support for President John Dramani Mahama, stating that he would choose the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at any time.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, Sonnie Badu explained that although he has acquaintances within the NPP, his family has historically aligned with the NDC, a factor he said strongly influences his political stance.
He also commended President Mahama’s leadership qualities, describing him as focused, visionary, and determined to emerge as one of the best presidents Africa has ever produced.
“Before now, he did a lot but failed to advertise it properly. This time, with the help of social media, everyone is seeing his works, and we are beginning to appreciate him more,” he said.
He added that the President’s youthfulness, sense of humour, and ability to stay updated make him an effective leader for the country.
The man of God however, expressed concern about succession, noting that President Mahama’s “shoes are big” and any future leader will have to achieve even more to maintain his legacy.
