President John Dramani Mahama has credited the blessings and support of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his successful first year following his reelection and inauguration as the country’s sixth President.
With a delegation made up of government and party officials, he joined the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi for the last Akwasidae festival of the year.

In the course of the event, he sought His Majesty’s blessings, counsel and directions in the administration of the country.
He credited his success in government in the past eleven months to the constant counsel from the King.
President Mahama used the occasion to express his appreciation to the Asantehene.
“When we started the year, the first Akwasidae, he joined to seek blessings, counsel and direction. Indeed, he has been successful so far, and so he deemed it right to come for the last Akwasidae to thank Your Majesty for your assistance.”
