Wanted ‘ATM Card Thief’ Arrested at Diaspora Summit 2025

The police have arrested a suspect linked to various ATM card thefts across the regional capital.

Suspect Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo, alias Morgan Addo, who has been on the police wanted list,  was arrested on December 19, during the Diaspora Summit 2025, while wearing an official summit tag and posing as a legitimate participant.

Per his modus operandi in stealing ATM Cards, the suspect allegedly manipulates situations at ATM locations to make transactions difficult for users, after which he approaches victims under the pretext of offering assistance and swaps their ATM cards.

“Investigations indicate that the suspect has withdrawn unspecified amounts of money using stolen ATM cards at several ATM locations. He is also suspected of stealing ATM cards and other valuables during conference meetings by accessing participants’ bags and laptops, particularly during breaks.”

A search of his residence at Ashale Botwe led to the discovery of eight ATM Cards belonging to different individuals.

“The recovered ATM cards have been retained as exhibits for further investigation. Police will formally engage the respective banks to assist in tracing the rightful owners of the cards to support ongoing investigations.”

The police assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly during public gatherings and major events.

Meanwhile, it cautioned the public to remain vigilant, keep their personal belongings and valuables under close supervision at all times, and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the Police.
