LINAKS Foundation has upgraded and handed over a refurbished three-classroom block to the Good Shepherd Anglican Basic School at Korle Nkwanta in Koforidua, bringing relief to pupils and teachers who for years endured unsafe and dilapidated learning conditions.

The renovation, commissioned on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, replaces a classroom structure that had exposed pupils and teachers to harsh weather and safety risks. The upgraded facility now provides a modern and secure learning environment, complete with new writing boards, desks, a staff common room and disability friendly features, significantly improving conditions for teaching and learning.

At the commissioning ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of LINAKS Foundation, Mrs Linda Akrasi Kotey, described the project as an investment in the future of the children and the community. She said the facility goes beyond bricks and mortar to create an environment that supports learning, creativity and personal growth.

“This rehabilitated classroom block is more than just a physical infrastructure. It is a space for innovation, focus, and discovery – a place where ideas can grow and theories can turn into practice. It provides improved safety, reduces disruptions to learning, and creates a cleaner, quieter, and more hygienic environment for our children,” she underscored.

Mrs Kotey urged school authorities, teachers and pupils to make good use of the facility and work together to raise educational standards. She also appealed to the community to take collective responsibility for maintaining the building so that it can serve generations of learners.

Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who commissioned the facility, commended the foundation for responding to a pressing community need and encouraged others to emulate the gesture. She noted that Mrs Kotey’s personal connection to the area had informed her decision to support the school.

“Mrs. Kotey has lived in this area before, saw the challenges facing the school, and has responded accordingly. This is what the government is expecting from you. Let us learn to give back to society,” she appealed.

The Regional Minister also tasked the school authorities and the New Juaben South Municipal Director of Education, Haruna Mustapha, to ensure the facility is properly maintained and used for its intended purpose.

Mr Mustapha expressed gratitude to LINAKS Foundation and assured stakeholders that the classrooms would be put to good use. The Headmistress of the school, Comfort Owusu, also praised Mrs Kotey and the foundation for what she described as a timely and impactful intervention that will enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

The ceremony attracted corporate executives, security officials and political figures from across the political divide, reflecting broad support for private sector involvement in education.
