Two people have been injured after two factions clashed in a chieftaincy dispute at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central region.

Police from the Central East Regional Police Command have taken over the Gomoa Nyanyano township after the clash in front of the Gomoa Nyanyano Chief’s palace.

Gomoa Nyanyano has had chieftaincy disputes for some years now, following the demise of Nana Obeng Wiabo.

Police sources say one faction decided to organise a float, and upon reaching Gomoa Nyanyano, the other faction mobilised and blocked the Gomoa Nyanyano road to prevent the procession, leading to the clash.

Currently, over 50 police personnel and other security officers have taken over the community.
