Scene at the Kasoa New Market during the fire outbreak on Sunday
There was a devastating fire outbreak at the Kasoa New Market on the night of Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The fire outbreak affected several shops in the market, with some of them completely destroyed.
Viral videos from the outbreak showed thick clouds of smoke emanating from some of the shops, which were still on fire.
Some of the shops had been completely burnt, with their roofs, entrances, and contents all gone.
There was no presence of personnel from the Ghana Fire Service or any other security agency at the time the video was being taken.
A number of people, who were possibly owners of the shops, could be seen lamenting.
Some other people could also be seen going through some of the items that were salvaged.
The security authorities are yet to react to the outbreak.
